Today, I told the all the students that I not returning to Holy Spirit next year. It has been a wonderful 6 years! Holy Spirit has become a second family to me. I will miss the students, staff, parents, and community very much. 21 more days!
Families: We need everyone’s support for help on May 5th! If your son/daughter has a legitimate conflict that prohibits them from helping along with a parent, possibly one parent can help and the other can attend the event. It is very important that you communicate to Peggy Whitsett if you have a conflict. This day is a huge undertaking and we need all the students along with a parent (or both) to help supervise the kids.
The rest of this week and next week is full of crazy schedules due to field trips and ISTEP! make sure you and your child are on top of things by checking out the blog!
We're back!

Here is an update to parents who were not able to attend the 7th Grade meeting last Thursday evening. Our Flower Sale has kicked off and will continue to run for the next 3 weeks. Friday your child brought home the Flower Sale Packet with order forms and all other important information including what amount your child will earn per item sold. The yellow card in the packet is your master copy of sales made and you will need to keep that safe as it is what you will turn in at the end of the 3 weeks. It also provides you the amount your child will earn into their individual account. Do not make copies off of that card. Only make copies of the white order forms. Please encourage your 7th grader to get out there and sell, sell, sell! Our DC trip next year will cost around $680 per student. Your student could raise close to that amount if not more, just with the flower sale! If your child does not want to participate in the sale, we do ask that they still put their time in during pick up/ delivery day in May. As for the DC trip, the first $100.00 deposit will be due at the end of this school year. No need for that to come out of pocket if your student earns it with the flower sales!
Fish Fry is on March 9th, Our committee chair will be in contact with you very soon to schedule students to help with the set-up, help during and clean up for our Fish Fry. More to come on the Fish Fry.
Overall, we are looking at about $880 needed to be raised per student for all of the 8th Grade programs. Events like Manners Day, 8th grade Leadership Shirts, Kings Island trip, and many others are funded by our fundraising efforts as a class. We ask for 100% participation from each child in our class. We know schedules will never be perfect for all events, however don't let your student miss out on the group dynamics and belonging they will experience with all of our fundraising efforts.
Finally, ice-cream sales will begin after Lent. We will need volunteers to help with this and the committee chairs will be in contact with you as time approaches.
If you have any further questions please feel free to contact me!
Tomorrow is the Middle School Ash Wednesday Retreat. Please talk with your child about being reverent during the retreat. Check the class pages for updates.
